When my friend and neighbor, Stephanie, asked if she could throw a shower/celebration for me, I was pleasantly surprised. I swallowed my stubbornness, and said “Why not?” Receiving is humbling business!
To be honest though, I was afraid she would go to all the bother only to have no one show up. That wasn’t just a sinister assumption; practically speaking, my friends and family are spread all across the states, and a shower wasn’t at all in my expectations. (I never had a “real” bridal shower either for similar reasons.)
We worked the dates around convenience for my mom and sisters who have a 10 hour drive with kids. I was sad that so many people were missing, but even more overwhelmed by all the people that did show up bearing gifts and well wishes. Stephanie completely outdid herself. It was all so lovely and fun!
My cousin, Trina snapped these photos of the party for me. I included a few iphone shots as well.
PHOTO BOOTH//GUESTS:
-My mom and sisters
This lovely lady shocked me and drove all the way from Florida for this day. What a fun aunt!
Local cousins
My favorite big kids- my nephew Kameron and Stephanies daughter Savannah.
DECOR:
After the photo booth, there was a lovely little table for writing notes to Baby and her parents.
The lemonade stand was a favorite of mine.
The food table was so lovely.
My bench seat of honor, I guess. My husband actually made it out of an old headboard. Isn’t it great?
My mom and I styling the lovely, handmade “Mommy” and “Grandma” name tags.
FOOD:
The food was amazing. I was thrilled to get dibs on some of the leftovers. I couldn’t stop eating all the colorful, tasty finger foods.
This lovely photo portrays who Stephanie is as a person. She serves so well, and makes simple, everyday things beautiful and significant. I think that’s also partly why she’s a fun mom. 🙂
Stephanie put hours of hard work into the food and decor (along with her mom). Also, kudos to Stephanie’s friend, Rainey for helping set up + babysitting so work could flow smoothly.
How awesome is this cheesecake served up in little jars?
Toppings!
FUN//GIFTS
Sharing lemonade with mommy.
I think it’s so adorable how kids always get excited over gifts, even if they aren’t for them.
BABY DADDY:
Husband showed up near the end of the shower. No baby shower would be necessary without baby daddies! 😉 He spoiled me all weekend, making sure I relaxed and had fun. There’s no one else I’d rather be on this adventure with.
Stephanie, thank you for loving me and Baby so well through this shower. I tell people the most beautiful shower I ever attended was my own. It meant the world.
You are so special and deserving of many blessings like this. 🙂 I enjoyed spoiling you! I cannot wait to meet little miss Kanagy and I know you are going to be a great mommy!!!!

I enjoyed that photo journey through a gorgeous back yard. What a sweet welcome party for your babe. There is nothing quite like the slightly terrified joy of getting ready for the first one. 🙂 Have fun!

It’s actually a clearing in the woods, with a creek bed and everything. (There was actually water in it with all the rain this spring!)The owners keep it up and it’s been used for weddings, etc. 🙂 Anyways, thank you. We are very excited!
